RV 3.12.8 Beta, SIGGRAPH User Group, Python, and more

Hello from Tweak,

We are gearing up for SIGGRAPH and hope to see lots of you there at the party, the user group meeting, and the booth. We have a new beta release for testing (links below) and also some big news about RV. 

SIGGRAPH 2011

Tweak will be at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver, You can find us in Booth 963 (with Shotgun Software). Come check out the latest advancements in store for RV 3.12.

Surprise news regarding Python and Javascript

Tweak is working on two powerful new tools for extending and integrating RV. First, we are adding Python to RV as a native scripting language (alongside Mu). We will demo Python integration at SIGGRAPH and then add it to a future dot release of 3.12. Second, we have added the ability to register JavaScript handlers for internal RV evetns so there is two-way communication with web pages running in an RV Webkit window (this is included in the current beta.)  You can check out the docs for RV/Javascript here.

RV 3.12.8 Beta

RV 3.12.8 Beta has been released and is ready for download. There are a lot of fixes in here (thanks for your feedback and testing so far). You can read the full release notes here for complete details (and you can subscribe to that forum page to see updates and known issues as we update the release notes.)

The biggest new additions to this beta release:

• Stereo TV support for HDMI 1.4a Frame Packed Mode: Full-res HD stereo from any HDMI 1.4a compliant device
• Two-way Javscript support: Javascript running in a QWebView hosted by RV can now register callbacks for RV events and call arbitrary code on the RV side.
